Galgo Español Puppies Collection

White Galgo Español Puppies:

I would like to talk about something wich makes me mad. Something wich is completly inhuman. Something wich hapen few kilometers from us, in Spain.
The Galgos are hunting  dogs belongs to the greyhound familly.In fact, the Galgo, is probably the most persecuted dog breeds. As I said,  Galgos are used to hunt hares in the deep Spanish countryside.They are not consider like an alive organism, the Galgo is a tool for the hunters. they spend their lives in damp, dirty holes or windowless shacks. They can see the daylight only when they hunt with their masters.

New Galgo Español Puppies:
In spain this kind of hunt is an old tradition with strong code. At the end of the hunting season the handlers decide if they keep their dogs for the futur season. When a dog is too old to be a performant hunter they kill him. If the dog was a good hunter during its short career he will be killed rapidly ( a bullet in the head) or he will be given to a sanctuary.But if the galgo disapointed his master, this last one consider it like a disgrace. So he have to kill him in excruciating pain.

Brown Galgo Español Puppies:

The criminal hunters are very imaginative to find horrible tortures, some throw them alive into deep abandoned wells, others hang dogs with hind legs still in contact with the floor in order to lead the dog to death very slowly, sometimes dogs are hung on the back of a car they are dragging for kilometers or they are simply mutilated with knifes or hammer.

Delgado was quite sweet, and content to lay on his bed, until the cakes were brought out, and then he quickly positioned himself where he could not-so-surreptiously put his head on the table and sneak a treat.  When he was shooed away, he settled his head on my lap for a bit, but I was not fooled….it was not me he was interested in but my cake!  I learned that Delgado does not like having his picture taken (and he turned away as soon as the camera came out!), that he is quite a thief, and that he loves to sleep on the sofa, but will only do it if no one is in the room with him.

Our hosts admitted that they struggled with teaching him to stay off the sofa, then finally decided that the battle wasn’t worth it, and Delgado has apparently slept on the sofa ever since.  I’ve always been fond of sighthounds, especially greyhounds, and this Spanish greyhound was no exception.

All in all, it was a good trip, but of course, I was delighted to come home and find my three hounds healthy, happy and well-cared for.  I learned that they all had new nicknames:  Bel was Bella Loca, a nickname so good it will stick; Oskar was Baby Beluga; and I suppose Toby’s new nickname says something about how he must have behaved when we were gone, because he was just “the little asshole.”
